BIG BEAR LAKE, Calif. (KABC) -- The Mammoth Mountain ski resort announced it is buying two resorts in Southern California, Bear Mountain and Snow Summit resorts, in a $38-million deal. Stakeholders must still agree to the deal.
There have been rumors of the deal for some time.
The buyout could turn out to be a bargain for local skiers and snowboarders. Mammoth passes will be sold for $689, which will include access to four mountain resorts: Mammoth, June Mountain, Big Bear and Snow Summit.
Local businesses are hoping the move will bring in increased development and growth. Visits to the Big Bear Mountain area are down overall.
This weekend they're kicking off a big event: They're going to be trucking in 120 tons of snow to fill a hillside at Big Bear.
