80-year-old Downey couple found safe after daughter reports them missing

DOWNEY, Calif. (KABC) -- An 80-year-old couple from Downey was found safe on Tuesday after their daughter reported them missing.

Frank and Joy Himes disappeared Sunday morning, according to their daughter, Tina Marie Himes, who lives with her parents.

A sergeant with Downey police said the two were found around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in their neighborhood in good condition.

The couple's daughter said the two left their house, located in the 7700 block of Brunache Street, around 10 a.m. in their 2012 red Toyota Prius and never returned home.

Frank Himes suffers from Alzheimer's disease, while his wife is battling dementia.

Details behind their apparent disappearance were not released.
