MURRIETA, Calif. (KABC) -- An investigation into a suspicious house fire in Murrieta was underway Wednesday night and may be connected to a missing person case.

The fire began at about 6:20 p.m. in the 24500 block of Grand Oaks Court and burned mostly downstairs until it was knocked down less than 30 minutes later. Police believe the fire may have been an arson.

The fire caused about $100,000 worth of damage.

One of the residents of the house is also missing, but no further details were available.

Escondido Police Department was also on the scene.
