Mother, small child left critically injured after being struck by vehicle in San Gabriel

SAN GABRIEL, Calif (KABC) -- A mother and her child were critically injured in a hit-and-run in San Gabriel Friday night.

The crash happened around 9:35 p.m. in the intersection of Live Oak and Del Mar avenues.

The victims were taken to a local hospital.

It was unclear what kind of vehicle struck them, and the driver fled the scene, authorities said.

The investigation is ongoing.
