CHESTERFIELD SQUARE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A mother was taken into police custody Friday on suspicion of killing her 9-month-old daughter.

Authorities received a call from a concerned neighbor around 3 p.m. at 64th Street and Gramercy Place in Chesterfield Square.

When police arrived, the mother, who is in her mid-20s, was detained and later arrested. Her identity was not released.

A neighbor said the woman had come out of her home yelling that she had just killed her child. The 9-month-old was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A coroner identified the baby as Savannah Coleman. A cause of death was expected Sunday. The investigation is ongoing.
