KOREATOWN, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A female suspect broke her arm during a confrontation with police after attacking a female Metro bus driver in Koreatown Monday.

LAPD officers and LAFD officials responded to a call about a female bus driver being attacked on the Metro Rapid Line 720 bus near Wilshire Boulevard and Oxford Avenue around 1:15 p.m.

Investigators say the female suspect, wearing a green shirt, began screaming and swinging at the bus driver as she tried to board the bus. What prompted the woman to lash out remains unknown, but witnesses quickly helped pull the woman off the driver.

Pamela Moore works in one of the surrounding office buildings and was taking her lunch break when she saw and heard the struggle taking place on the bus.

"The bus driver started defending herself. She picked up the phone, she was trying to make a phone call, I guess to call her dispatch or something, some emergency help, and people were trying to get the elderly lady off of her," Moore said. "She was still attacking her when people intervened, they started grabbing her and pulling her away."

The bus driver sustained scratches to her right arm but refused medical treatment, Metro spokeswoman Anna Chen said.

Transportation officials are hoping that the surveillance cameras on the bus will help them in their investigation.
