SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Two men were killed and a third was wounded in a shooting Wednesday night in South Los Angeles, authorities say.

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies and firefighters responded to the Florence area near the intersection of Central Avenue and 68th Street around 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Three men had been shot.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene and two men were transported to a local hospital. One of them was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The condition of the other victim has not been released.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances of the shooting.

No suspect description was immediately available. The suspect vehicle is described as a dark colored sedan.

The man who was wounded was identified by his aunt as Alfredo Carrera. He is about to become a father for the first time, with his girlfriend expected to hold a baby shower this weekend.

"Hopefully everything is OK so we can celebrate together with her," said Michelle Garcia, the victim's aunt.

His aunt says one of the other victims was Carrera's childhood friend. They were parking the car at Carrera's house when someone started shooting.

J.J. Garcia says he believes the shooter was targeting his friend who was saying goodbye to the victims.

Garcia says the victims are not gang members.

"These people are normal people, decent people," Garcia said. "I don't even know why this happened."
