LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The Los Angeles City Council is offering a $50,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the unsolved murder of a South Los Angeles man.

Juan Flores, 41, was shot to death outside his home in the 1400 block of E. 21st Street at about 2:35 a.m. on April 19 after returning home from a date with his wife, Maria Villanueva.

Police say Villanueva got out of the car in front of their home as her husband parked, and that's when he was confronted by an unknown suspect and fatally shot.

"As she went inside the residence, Mr. Flores was parking his vehicle and for no apparent reason, he was brutally murdered," LAPD Officer Deen Alcaraz said.

His widow fought back tears as she talked about her late husband following the reward announcement by Los Angeles police and Councilman Curren Price Jr.

"He was a really, really nice husband. He was a nice father and he was always there for us," Villanueva said.

The couple have a blended family of six kids.

Anyone with further information was urged to contact the Los Angeles Police Department at (877) LAPD-247.
