One person died and three others were wounded in a shooting during an illegal fireworks party in South Los Angeles early Tuesday morning, police said.

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- One person died and three others were wounded in a shooting in South Los Angeles early Tuesday morning.

Authorities responded to the 1100 block of East 57th Street near Naomi Avenue shortly after 1 a.m. When officers arrived, three men and a woman all between the ages of 20 and 30 were found shot.

A group of people were gathered at a party watching illegal fireworks when a gunman opened fire, police said. All of the victims were taken to a local hospital, and one of the men was pronounced dead around 2:55 a.m.

It was unclear what led up to the shooting. There was no information on the suspect or suspects involved in the incident.

The investigation was ongoing.
