SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- Royal High School in Simi Valley was briefly placed on lockdown Thursday as police investigated a report of someone possibly armed with a gun in the area.
Police said they received information about the possible armed person around noon and responded to the campus to investigate.
SWAT officers were positioned at the school, and a county helicopter was dispatched to assist in the search, authorities said.
Police said they located a woman who matched the description of the person in the initial report.
Upon further investigation, officers concluded that there was no gun involved.
During the lockdown, Simi Valley police said students and staff were safe and sheltered, and the school district will be notifying parents with further details.
The school has since returned to normal operations, police said.
