WRIGHTWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- It was a good day for snowboarding and skiing at Mountain High Tuesday. The resort got some much-needed snow overnight.

"We had a nice little snow storm last night. We got a dusting of new snow and we had a dusting of snow the other night as well. Plus we're making snow at Mtn. High is it feels like winter again," said John McColly of Mountain High Ski Resort. "That is something we've been missing in Southern California."

It might not have been a lot of snow, but it was enough for Layla Fang to give her 2-year-old godson his first snowboarding lesson.

"We are going to get him a small little snowboard in a year or so and get him going," said Fang.

They're are the same slopes that gave Olympian Chloe Kim her start as well. Kim took gold in the women's half pipe Monday.

"I thought her win was awesome. Like, she is only 17 years old and getting a gold. That is pretty awesome for her," said Cencille Omega of Granada Hills.

For Bianca and Bruno Leta, the snow was a welcome change. The newlyweds were visiting from Brazil where it is the middle of summer right now.

"We stopped here to enjoy the snow and the mountains," said Bruno. "It is something that we never see in Brazil," Bianca said.

Snow-topped mountains, clear skies above and crowd-free slops made for an ideal day.

"Today is great for kind of a bad season, but today isn't great for second week of February," said Napa Sthoop of Los Angeles.
