LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Two ranchers in the Santa Monica Mountains said mountain lions have attacked their livestock.

Wendell Phillips said he lost two female and three male alpacas to a mountain lion and that one of his horses was attacked.

Phillips said the mountain lion tagged P-45 is responsible for the alpacas' deaths. He said he wounded the 147-pound mountain lion in March after waiting for it to return for its kill.

Biologists want Wendell and another rancher to build larger enclosures, but the pair said they cannot afford to do that.
