SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KABC) -- An 8-year-old Frazier Park boy who was critically injured in a deadly plane crash in the Mojave Desert Monday has died.

Sebastian Grewal died at a hospital Friday from his injuries after suffering trauma to his head and upper body.

The single-engine plane nosedived and crashed at El Mirage Dry Lake, killing the pilot, 47-year-old Brian Lee.

Lee was a family friend who gave Sebastian a plane ride during a camping trip. He was a firefighter-paramedic with the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but San Bernardino County Sheriff's Cpl. Randy Naquin says the plane experienced "some sort of mechanical issue."
