Kidnapped Nigerian schoolgirls seen in new video

LAGOS, Nigeria (KABC) -- New video has emerged that purportedly shows about 100 of the schoolgirls kidnapped in Nigeria last month.

The girls are seen wearing hijabs in the video, and the leader of the terrorist group Boko Haram declares they have converted to Islam. In one video that runs 17 minutes long, the girls can be seen praying.

It is the first public sight of the girls since the kidnapping on April 14. More than 300 girls were abducted from their school. About 50 have managed to escape, but 276 remain missing.

Abubakar Shekau, leader of the Boko Haram, says in another video that he's willing to exchange the girls for imprisoned members of his terror group.

Global calls for the return of the girls is growing as a new international push to find them gets underway. The U.S., Britain, France, China and Spain are all sending experts to help the Nigerian government.
