LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (KABC) -- A Lake Elsinore man was arrested for attacking several people and injuring at least one person with a knife, Riverside County sheriff's officials said.

Johnathan Schmidt, 29, allegedly attacked several people at about 11:10 p.m. Sunday in the 31000 block of Riverside Drive. A person who attempted to stop a fight between Schmidt and others was cut with a knife, he told Lake Elsinore police officers.

Schmidt fled the scene in a dark green Ford Explorer, but was apprehended during a traffic stop. Officers found Schmidt had a knife with him.

Schmidt was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and battery.
