Lake View Terrace head-on collision kills 1, injures 5

LAKE VIEW TERRACE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- One person was killed and five others were rushed to the hospital following a head-on car crash in Lake View Terrace.

According to investigators, a Toyota 4Runner turned into oncoming traffic shortly after 8 p.m. Monday and collided with a pick-up truck near the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and West Foothill Terrace.

Authorities said the 4Runner had been modified for off-roading and did not have seat belts. The driver of that vehicle died at the scene. He was identified as 24-year-old Michael Ryan Freeman of Sylmar.

Four other passengers in the car as well as the driver of the pick-up truck were injured, but they all survived.

Police found alcohol in the 4Runner, but they said it remains unclear if the driver was drunk.
