LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A shotgun that fell off a LAPD motorcycle has been recovered and the man suspected of stealing it has been arrested.

The Remington 870 shotgun became disengaged from the motorcycle's locking mechanism and fell onto the street near Bronson Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in South Los Angeles Thursday.

A driver saw the weapon fall off and alerted the officer a few blocks away. But when the officer went back to retrieve the shotgun, it was gone.

Takee Williams, 43, of Los Angeles was arrested for allegedly stealing the gun. He's being held in lieu of $35,000 bail.
