PLAYA DEL REY, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Many Southern California residents celebrated Valentine's Day at the beach. Lifeguards were working hard to make sure everyone stayed safe amid dangerous rip currents and sunny skies.
Temperatures were forecast in the mid-80s inland and upper-70s along the coast Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
The high surf, dangerous sneaker waves up to six feet high and strong rip currents along exposed west-facing shores required multiple rescues Saturday.
Lifeguards rescued at least 129 people in Los Angeles County Saturday, 23 of them occurred in Hermosa Beach. There were 33 rescues in Los Angeles County Friday.
