PICO RIVERA, Calif. (KABC) -- The 39-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing a roadside assistance driver responding to an AAA service call in Pico Rivera was arrested Friday.
Authorities arrested Tobias Ruben Cabrera without incident after setting up surveillance in the area of Whittier Boulevard and the San Gabriel River.
On Tuesday, Raymond Zabala was helping Cabrera's mother with her dead car battery outside her home, when Cabrera stabbed Zabala in the neck, Los Angeles County sheriff's investigators said.
Cabrera fled the scene on a bicycle, while Zabala collapsed several houses away while searching for help. Zabala was pronounced dead at the scene.
Zabala worked for Petra Towing in Montebello and leaves behind his wife and young son.
Cabrera was being held on $1 million bail. An investigation was ongoing.
