SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man was in critical condition after being shot in the head Wednesday morning in the Vermont Square neighborhood of South L.A., authorities said.
The shooting was reported at 3 a.m. in the area of 42nd and Flower streets, said a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department's Southwest Division. A Flower Street overpass crosses the 110 Freeway at the scene.
Officers arrived to find a man in his 40s suffering from a single gunshot wound, according to the LAPD. He was transported to California Hospital Medical Center.
A homeless encampment was seen on the overpass, but it was unclear if the victim himself was homeless.
No description of the shooter was available.
