Both were athletes at the University of Missouri, where Cammisano was on the swim team.
Cammisano studied communication at the school and graduated in 2013. He interned at the university's Office of Disability Services and at Cumulus Broadcasting, a radio station operator, according to his Facebook page.
Cammisano, the only son of Jerry and Josephine Cammisano, has two older sisters.
The swimmer reportedly came out as a gay athlete in 2011. He moved to St. Louis last June, according to his Facebook page.
The couple, reportedly dating for several months, is open on social media, sharing snaps of their beach trips, workouts and dates -- and even the emotional kiss after Sam got the call that he'll be playing for Rams next season.
ESPN video shows Sam breaking down in tears and embracing Cammisano after the televised news.
"Could not be more proud of my babe," Cammisano wrote on Twitter.
The pair celebrated that night with friends at a VIP table at Tao in Las Vegas, partying until 3 a.m., the Las Vegas Sun reported.
