Suspect injured in Echo Park officer-involved shooting
An investigation is underway after two officer-involved shootings in Echo Park involving the same suspect in two locations.

ECHO PARK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- An investigation is underway after two officer-involved shootings in Echo Park involving the same suspect in two locations.

The incident started just after midnight at Sunset Boulevard and Sutherland Street when two Los Angeles Police Department gang officers on patrol saw a large group in an apparent fight.

One suspect produced a handgun and an officer-involved shooting occurred, police said.

The suspect fled west on foot one block, and another officer-involved shooting occurred.

The suspect collapsed and was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. It's unclear how many times he was hit.

Officials say a handgun was recovered at the scene. The suspect is listed in stable condition.
