1 killed after car flies off 91 Freeway in Compton, lands upside down

COMPTON, Calif. (KABC) -- One person was killed Monday in an overnight crash along the 91 Freeway in Compton, authorities said.

It happened just after midnight on the eastbound side of the freeway near the Alameda Street exit.

Investigators said two vehicles were involved, one of which flew over the embankment and landed upside down.

One person was killed, though further details weren't immediately released. It's also unclear if anyone else was injured.

The freeway reopened early Monday morning following a brief closure.

The crash remains under investigation.
