One person was killed in a fiery crash near Forest Lawn Memorial-Park that also ignited a tree and damaged a traffic light, authorities said.

GRIFFITH PARK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- One person was killed in a fiery crash early Thursday near Forest Lawn Memorial-Park that also ignited a tree and damaged a traffic light, authorities said.

The single-car crash was reported shortly before 2:30 a.m. in the 5900 block of Forest Lawn Drive, just south of the 134 Freeway, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Firefighters responded to the scene and quickly extinguished the flames that engulfed the vehicle.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene but was not immediately identified.

Officers on foot and in an LAPD helicopter conducted a search for anyone who might have been ejected from the car, but no other victims were found.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
