15-year-old boy shot after fight breaks out near him at Dockweiler beach

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A 15-year-old boy was shot Saturday night at Dockweiler State Beach, and police are now searching for the person responsible.

The incident happened along Vista Del Mar shortly before 7:30 p.m.

The teen told officers that a fight broke out next to him just before a bullet struck him in the hip. He's expected to recover, authorities said.

Investigators have not released a suspect description. Police are also working to determine whether the shooting was gang-related.

The investigation remains ongoing.
