2 federal employees followed and attacked following DTLA protest, police say

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Two protesters were arrested during a skirmish outside the federal detention center in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday night.

According to Los Angeles police, protesters began to follow federal employees to their cars in a parking lot, and then the protesters struck them multiple times.

LAPD officers were called to the area near Alameda Street and E. Commercial Street to control the crowd and arrested two people.

Two federal employees were taken to the hospital in unknown conditions, LAPD said.

Video from the Citizen App shows the crowd of protesters in DTLA on Saturday night. Demonstrators have gathered in the area around the federal complex many times in the past to protest ICE enforcement, though it's unclear what sparked Saturday's protest.
