2-year-old boy dies after shooting in Highland, authorities say

HIGHLAND, Calif. (KABC) -- A 2-year-old boy died after a shooting in Highland, prompting an investigation, according to authorities.

Deputies were called to a home in the 6900 block of Victoria Avenue shortly before 5:30 p.m. Thursday, according to a spokesperson for the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

The toddler was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities have not said whether the shooting was accidental, and it was not immediately clear whether anyone would face charges.
