ABC7 wins 3 awards at 77th Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Congratulations to the Eyewitness News team!

ABC7 won three awards at the 77th Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards Saturday night, including Best Live Coverage of an Unscheduled News Event for the 2024 Franklin Fire.

Eyewitness News reporter Leanne Suter took home the award for Best Environment News Story for "Sea of Change: The Whale Superhighway."

Warming ocean waters and climate change impact whales traveling through Southern California waters to Baja, Mexico.

Plus, "On The Red Carpet's" George Pennacchio and Editor Cheryl Diano won Best Entertainment News Story for their coverage on the death of James Earl Jones.
