Amber Alert suspect, 5-year-old victim believed to be headed to SoCal from Nevada

An Amber Alert is in effect for a 5-year-old girl allegedly abducted in Nevada, and authorities believe the child and the suspect could be heading toward Southern California.

Amaya Meithof was taken by 41-year-old Christopher Meithoff Sunday morning in Carson City, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Their last known direction of travel and possible destination is Quartz Hill, which is located near Lancaster and Palmdale.

The suspect is said to be driving a red 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Oregon license plate 576 QNU. Meithof is described as a white man who is 6 feet tall and weighs 170 pounds.
