Deputies shoot, kill standoff suspect in East LA

EAST LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies shot and killed a person after a call for an attempted suicide turned into an hourslong standoff in East Los Angeles early Wednesday morning.

The incident unfolded in the area of Triggs Street and Downey Road. When deputies responded around 2 a.m., a suspect started firing at them, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

They had to use an armored rescue vehicle to get to safety.

Deputies eventually returned fire and killed the suspect, who has not been identified. No deputies were hurt.
