K-9 helps officers find over 45 pounds of meth in Barstow

BARSTOW, Calif. (KABC) -- A police K-9 in Barstow is being credited with helping officers find more than 45 pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop last weekend.

Police said K-9 Bailey alerted officers to something inside a vehicle that had been pulled over on the 15 Freeway near the Fort Irwin Road exit around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28.

A search of the car led to the discovery of approximately 46 pounds of meth in the engine compartment of the vehicle, which officers booked into evidence. Officers also located a loaded firearm inside the vehicle.

The driver, who was identified as Patrick Parker of Hemet, was arrested and booked into the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department's High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto.
