E-bike rider crashes into SUV in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- Dramatic video shows the moment a motorcyclist crashed into an SUV in Long Beach.

The incident happened just after midnight Sunday on Pacific Avenue near Pacific Coast Highway.

The Long Beach Police Department said a woman in a Chevrolet Trailblazer was in the southbound lane of Pacific Avenue, turning eastbound onto 16th street when she collided with the motorcyclist, who was heading northbound on Pacific Avenue.

The video shows the rider speeding on the motorcycle without headlights before slamming into the front of an SUV. The impact left the motorcycle crumpled and pinned beneath a parked car along the street.

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital and is expected to be OK. The woman in the Chevy, who also wasn't injured, stayed on the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.

Detectives say speed or alcohol not appear to be a factor in the crash.
