Brush fire breaks out in Riverside County amid dangerous heat; evacuation orders, warnings issued

PERRIS, Calif. (KABC) -- A 57-acre brush fire broke out Tuesday afternoon in Perris amid dangerous heat, prompting evacuations in some areas.
The blaze, dubbed the Wood Fire, erupted just before 1 p.m. near Rider Street and Dreamglo Lane in unincorporated Perris, according to Cal Fire.
It was unclear whether any structures were threatened or damaged.
Fire officials said evacuation orders were issued for the area near Cajalco and Wood roads.
According to an evacuation alert, the fire was moving toward Highway 74, and residents in the area were being asked to leave immediately.

The cause of the fire was unknown.
Officials said residents searching for resources or shelter can visit the Perris Library located at 163 E San Jacinto Ave. Pets are allowed.
