Crews make progress on 75-acre brush fire in Lancaster; advisory remains for some residents

LANCASTER, Calif. (KABC) -- A brush fire burning in the Lancaster area briefly prompted an evacuation warning for some residents Saturday afternoon.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the blaze, dubbed the Calvin Fire, at approximately 1:38 p.m.

The fire scorched 75 acres as firefighters worked to contain its spread. No injuries or structures threatened were immediately reported.

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, forward progress was stopped at 2:50 p.m. Crews said the fire held at 75 acres with 90% containment.

An evacuation warning previously issued for zone LAC-E1639 was downgraded to an advisory.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known. Fire crews remained at the scene.
