Child hurt in hit-and-run crash in Compton, Los Angeles County deputies say

COMPTON, Calif. (KABC) -- A child was hurt in a hit-and-run crash in Compton on Saturday night, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.

The crash happened on Queensdale and Bradfield avenues.

The sheriff's department said the child -- believed to be around 3 years old -- was hit and the vehicle fled the scene around 9 p.m. The child was taken to an area hospital and is expected to survive.

Video from the scene shows the child in the back of an ambulance.

There is no information yet on the vehicle or driver, but deputies were interviewing witnesses and looking for possible home security video.
