Death toll from LA fires rises to 31 after human remains found in Altadena

ALTADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- The death toll from January's wildfires in Los Angeles County has now climbed to 31 after human remains were found in Altadena this week, officials said.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner's Special Operations Response Team was called out Monday to investigate possible human remains that were found on La Venezia Court.

Officials confirmed the remains were human. The death from the Eaton Fire now stands at 19, with 12 other deaths in the Palisades Fire burn area.
