Shelter-in-place issued for growing brush fire in San Juan Capistrano
Crews are battling a fast-moving, 450-acre brush fire in Orange County.
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. (KABC) -- Crews are battling a growing brush fire in San Juan Capistrano, triggering a shelter-in-place for some Orange County residents.
The Gibby Fire started at about three acres around 2 p.m., but quickly grew to 150 acres, according to the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA).
Less than half an hour later, OCFA said the fire had grown to 450 acres and was burning at a moderate-to-rapid rate of spread.
The fire is burning in the area of Ortega Highway and Gibby Road.
Additional ground crews and firefighting aircraft were sent to the area to help fight the flames.

In an update just before 4 p.m., a shelter-in-place was issued for Orange County zone ORT01, which is on the county line with Riverside County.
Ortega Highway (SR-74) is closed eastbound at Gateway in Rancho Mission Viejo and westbound at Grand in Lake Elsinore.
At last check, there were no evacuation warnings or orders in place for nearby residents, only a shelter-in-place.
