POMONA, Calif. (KABC) -- Residents of a two-story Pomona apartment building had to flee their homes in the early morning hours Saturday while smoke and flames poured through the roof over some units.
The fire was reported at 2:05 a.m. Saturday at the building at 707 N. East End Avenue, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Capt. David Dantic.
Flames and heavy smoke showed through the roof when firefighters arrived, Dantic said.
By the time the flames were out at 3:22 a.m., four units had been damaged, he said. The building has 28 units.
The fire spread into the attic shared by some of the damaged units.
No injuries were reported, Dantic said. About 40 residents were displaced from their units, and the American Red Cross was helping them find places to stay.
Investigators have yet to determine where the fire started and why, the fire captain said.
