Driver taken into custody after lengthy high-speed chase through IE and San Gabriel Valley

ONTARIO, Calif. (KABC) -- A driver led California Highway Patrol officers on a lengthy chase from the Inland Empire out to the San Gabriel Valley and back on Tuesday afternoon.

The dangerous, high-speed chase began on the 15 Freeway shortly after 2 p.m. in the Inland Empire. AIR7 tracked the vehicle going as fast as 108 mph at times.

The driver led CHP officers westbound on the 10 Freeway for many miles, taking the chase into the San Gabriel Valley.

The driver was reportedly wanted for a felony warrant for carrying firearms. Authorities believed the driver was armed.

At one point, a passenger bailed out of the vehicle on surface streets in the East San Gabriel Valley.

After a while of navigating surface streets and making U-turns, trying to evade officers, the driver got on the 60 Freeway, heading eastbound.

Family members reportedly told CHP that the suspect called them and indicated she was heading home and planned to turn herself in.

Instead, the chase came to a peaceful end on the 60 Freeway eastbound near Grove Avenue in Ontario. She first held both hands out of the vehicle as she drove slowly along the shoulder.

Eventually, she got out of the vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident.
