EAST HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- In one East Hollywood neighborhood, there is a huge sigh of relief.
Residents living on and near Sierra Vista Avenue turned to 7 On Your Side Investigates months ago because they were so fed up and frustrated with an encampment.
On Thursday, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass' Inside Safe program completely cleaned it up.
"This is a long time coming," said Keith Johnson who lives nearby.
In April, Johnson contacted 7 On Your Side Investigates.
Back then, everything from trophies, shoes, to solar panels were spilling out of the tarps and tents and into the sidewalk and street.
"We have listened, we have heard you, we have resolved it," Inside Safe senior director Annetta Kidane said.
Inside Safe tells 7 on Your Side that they moved about 20 homeless people from this street Thursday.
Now they will be going to a shelter where they will get food, case management and also a break from the extreme heat this week.
"It's just great they're following up," Johnson said. "We're headed in the right direction."
