Falling boulder causes 2-car crash on Highway 18 near Big Bear Lake

BIG BEAR LAKE, Calif. (KABC) -- A boulder fell onto Highway 18 in San Bernardino County on Friday night, causing two cars to crash.

The crash happened around 5:45 p.m. near Mile Marker 44, west of Big Bear Lake.

The San Bernardino County Fire Department said five people were hurt, including two children. Firefighters said the injuries were all minor, and four patients were taken to the hospital as a precaution, but are expected to be OK.

Cal Trans crews were able to push the boulder to the side of the road and reopen the highway.
