Fans rush to stock up on Shohei Ohtani baseball cards as Dodgers return to World Series

BURBANK, Calif. (KABC) -- Shohei Ohtani's epic performance Friday night apparently has fans grabbing any merchandise with his name on it.

Burbank Sportscards, which is home to a huge Ohtani mural, told Eyewitness News that many fans stopped by Saturday to buy Ohtani baseball cards.

Store officials say most of its Ohtani inventory is sold out, but are looking to restock soon.

Ohtani propelled the Dodgers back to the World Series with a two-way performance for the ages.

He hit three mammoth homers Friday night and struck out 10 while pitching shutout ball into the seventh inning, sweeping the Milwaukee Brewers out of the National League Championship Series.

The Dodgers will have a chance to become baseball's first repeat World Series champions in a quarter-century after the mind-blowing night for the three-time MVP.

Ohtani was selected the NLCS MVP essentially on the strength of that one unforgettable game.
