Fire burning in Cajon Pass forces closure of some northbound 15 Freeway lanes

CAJON PASS (KABC) -- A vegetation fire burning in the Cajon Pass forced the closure of some northbound lanes of the 15 Freeway Friday afternoon, causing significant traffic delays.

Two northbound lanes of the 15 Freeway are closed at Kenwood Avenue for an unknown duration with traffic backed up to the 210 Freeway.

Multiple agencies are on scene battling the so-called Greenwood Fire, which has burned 7 acres in the San Bernardino National Forest. The fire was first reported around 2:20 p.m.

A SIGALERT was issued and was expected to remain in effect for several hours as crews continued efforts to contain the blaze.
