Food truck driver killed in Santa Ana crash

SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- A food truck driver is dead after an SUV crashed into the truck, causing it to roll over in Santa Ana.

The deadly incident happened just before 11 p.m. Tuesday on West Warner Avenue, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.

Police say the food truck driver was ejected as a result of the crash and then was pinned under the truck. The victim, identified as 67-year-old Richardson Ayala of Anaheim, died at the scene.

His wife, who was also in the food truck, and the driver of the SUV were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Police say DUI is not suspected, and it's unclear if speed played a role.

The family has set up a GoFundMe to help cover his funeral expenses.
