LADERA HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Six homes were evacuated in Ladera Heights after Los Angeles sheriff's deputies received a call about a possible armed and barricaded suspect involved in a domestic dispute on Monday.

Deputies were sent to the 5800 block of Bedford Avenue at about 1:30 p.m. to investigate and found a woman with minor injuries.

As a precaution, the area was placed on lockdown. A speech therapy center that treats autistic children was included in the lockdown.

"We just received a phone call that said lock your doors. We had already decided to do that anyway, but we really appreciated it," said Pamela Wiley, a doctor at L.A. Speech & Language Therapy Center.

The husband of the woman had already left the area when deputies arrived, but later called authorities to turn himself in.
