405 Freeway southbound reopens after brush fire in Sepulveda Basin sparked traffic delay

VAN NUYS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The 405 Freeway southbound has reopened after a brush fire caused a traffic delay for drivers near the Sepulveda Basin on Saturday.

According to California Highway Patrol, the Sigalert was canceled shortly after 8 p.m., and all southbound lanes were reopened. The southbound lanes were closed for just under one hour.

Firefighters were battling the 1/4-acre Basin Fire off Burbank Boulevard, causing the traffic delay. Air operations helicopters and a water truck were being used to extinguish the flames, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The cause of the fire was unknown.
