
NEWHALL, Calif. (KABC) -- A Halloween party in the Newhall area turned deadly Friday night when a shooting broke out, leaving one man dead and another in critical condition.
Deputies with the Santa Clarita Sheriff's Station deputies responded to the 25000 block of De Wolfe Road regarding an assault with a deadly weapon and a person who had been shot.
When deputies arrived, they found two men with gunshot wounds, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
The first victim, who was described only as an adult male in his 30s, died at the scene. The second victim, a 27-year-old man, was hospitalized in critical condition.
"Investigators learned that the shooting stemmed from a fight that took place at a Halloween party in the area," said the sheriff's department in an updated statement. "There were two male adult suspects who were last seen running away from the location in an unknown direction."
Video obtained by Eyewitness News shows rescue teams rushing to help one of the victims as people were leaving the party.
The incident remains under investigation.
