IE youth mariachi group wins 2026 National Mariachi Championship
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- A youth mariachi group from the Inland Empire is celebrating its big win after taking part in the National Mariachi Championship in Anaheim.
Mariachi Campana de Riverside played their hearts out at the 2026 National Mariachi Championship, which were held in Anaheim, and were crowned national champs.
The win caps a landmark year for the youth ensemble from the Riverside Arts Academy.
Local arts leaders say the win reflects years of investment in music education.
"This championship represents far more than a trophy," said Alex Treviño, who leads Mariachi Campana. "It reflects the countless hours our students have dedicated to their craft, the support of their families, and the belief that music has the power to transform lives. We are incredibly proud of every student who stepped onto that stage and represented Riverside with excellence."
Earlier this spring, Mariachi Campana earned third place at the Tucson International Mariachi Conference.
