Missing toddler in Temecula found dead in backyard pool

TEMECULA, Calif. (KABC) -- A missing toddler was found dead in a backyard pool Saturday night in Temecula, authorities said.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the area near the 30000 block of Wellington Circle after receiving reports about a missing child.

When they arrived, they found the toddler in the pool.

"Deputies rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived," read a statement from the sheriff's office. "The toddler was transported to a local hospital where they were later pronounced deceased."

No other information was released.

The incident remains under investigation.
