Mom arrested for allegedly driving drunk with kids in car, crashing in Gardena

GARDENA, Calif. (KABC) -- A Los Angeles woman was arrested for allegedly driving drunk with her children in the vehicle and crashing into a power pole in Gardena Monday night.

Authorities say Adrienne Lynette Barre, 33, crashed her SUV into a Southern California Edison power pole at 135th Street and Normandie Avenue around 10:15 p.m. Her two children -- an 11-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl -- were not injured.

The crash caused the pole to fall over, knocking out power to more than 1,200 customers in the area.

Barre was arrested on suspicion of DUI and child endangerment. Her children have been placed with their grandmother.
